The VideoTardis is both a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and a Remote Video Server in one attractive compact case.

When used to protect a business, someone sat at their desk can "log-on" to the VideoTardis and see live or recorded images played back through their own computer whilst the unit is safely locked away out of sight and away from mischievous hands. Perfect for unattended hassle free recording and live monitoring of communal areas like receptions from any networked PC. Using an internet connection someone could even connect to the VideoTardis from anywhere in the world and watch live or recorded images on a standard computer!

Obviously you can also connect a standard CCTV monitor to the DVR for a more traditional method and use the remote monitoring feature at anytime in the future without additional cost. Acting as a DVR up to four CCTV cameras can be connected to the VideoTardis which simultaneously records images from all of them storing this digitally on to its internal hard drive(s). The stored video can then be played back by camera number, time and date or by alarm activation within seconds with no messy tapes to change or rewind.

The VideoTardis has four recording modes;-

1. Constant- 24hr/7days a week 2. Scheduled - e.g. 8:30-17:30 for a shop 3. Alarm activated - triggered by a PIR etc. 4. Video Motion Detection - movement in the camera picture

For total flexibility it is even possible to use a mixture of the above. For example a shop may record 8:30-17:30 Monday-Saturday by a scheduled recording setting and also record if the burglar alarm goes off outside those times using the alarm activation mode. Or, the same shop may record 3 cameras continuously and record the forth located in the stock room when this particular camera picks up movement using the built-in Video Motion Detection circuitry. This kind of flexibility gives both the installer and customer a truly bespoke CCTV installation.

Measuring only 13cm x 20cm x 28cm, the cleverly engineered VideoTardis can fit comfortably on the smallest of counters or the tiniest of shelves. For owner-managers who want total security the VideoTardis is easy to hide and lock away in a convenient cupboard. Images can then be played back at leisure on a local computer, or even over the internet, from anywhere in the world! For total security this feature is password protected.

As well as recording video, the VideoTardis can also record audio. A carefully positioned microphone over a till or in a reception area could prove vital in "who said what" when seeing who did what is not enough. Saving video and audio to a CD, DVD or an external hard drive. As the VideoTardis is easy to network it is easy to download critical information from it to a networked computer. You can then use the computer's CD or DVD writer to copy the files to a writable CD, DVD or even an external hard drive for large amounts of data.

The video files produced by the DVR are a modified mpeg compression and are specially encrypted so normal mpeg software cannot read or access them. We provide free software with the DVR called "player" software. This allows you, or a law court to play back the recorded files on the CD / DVD. It is also possible to simply play back recorded video and audio from the Videotardis into a standard Video recorder and copy the evidence on to a traditional VHS tape.

The VideoTardis is based around the superb DVR365 but has less hard disk space and cannot record 25 frames on every camera like the DVR365 but shares 25 frames/sec over the connected cameras. However, just like the DVR365 the VideoTardis is very network friendly and great for remote monitoring applications.
